Do you agree with Dana White's response?
In an interview with FanHouse, UCF President Dana White brushed off comments made by boxing phenom Bernard Hopkins, who compared MMA to a gay porno. He also gave some advice to a boxing promotion powerhouse.
Ariel Helwani of FanHouse spoke with White about the upcoming UFC 104, and the topics ranged from to the status of Dan Henderson, the future of Chuck Liddell, his opinion of a future dream match up of Lyoto Machida vs Anderson Silva, and of course his opinion of Hopkins' recent remarks.
When asked about Hopkins' remarks, White told Helwani he had not heard what was said. Helwani filled him in on what Hopkins said about MMA matches resembling a gay porno and grown men in panties.
White took the high road and said he is a fan of Hopkins and of boxing. He stated that promoters in boxing should not be worried, as both boxing and MMA can co-exist together.
Then White gave probably the most realest advice to Hopkins and Golden Boy promotions that I could not agree with more. That was essentially that Golden Boy has so many talented big name fighters who could easily be stacked onto on single card. He added that each could take a pay cut so that the overall card itself would be that much greater for the fans to want to pay and watch.
He then suggested that they should all get out there and actually fight instead of just running around, jabbing, and playing it safe for another future bigger payday. Give the fans what they paid for and then they will not have to worry about the UFC.
These statements could not be more accurate from a true fight fan like myself who is a big boxing fan and who agrees with White 100 percent.
Hopefully Golden Boy Promotions and the other big promotion companies start to really take notice of White's advice, for it is what every fight fan feels. No one wants to see a boring unsatisfying card full of dreadfully exhausting unfulfilling fights. No one.

Bernard Hopkins Thinks MMA is a Gay Porno, Not a Sport
By Mark Vester
Light heavyweight contender Bernard Hopkins spoke with BoxingScene.com about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts - and Hopkins held nothing back when he expressed his feelings about the UFC craze. Hopkins told BoxingScene's Bill Emes that grown men should not be watching MMA. He says MMA is not a sport, and compared it to a porno movie. According to Hopkins, he would feel "suspect" [possibly gay] if he bought a ticket to watch MMA.
"Everybody is different. I don't want to watch two grown men wrestling with panties on. I'm from the hood, we don't play that. To me, I'm not buying a ticket to watch two grown men with panties on, sweating, [with] nuts in their face. That's not me. To compare that to boxing is ludicrous. It's a porno. It's an entertainment porno," Hopkins told BoxingScene. "I'm not wrestling a guy with panties on and his nuts in my face, and they call that a sport."
Hopkins would also tell BoxingScene that he wouldn't have a problem if MMA had an audience made up of women, but it bothers him that groups of men could get together to watch MMA events.
"I'm not criticizing people for what kind of entertainment they like. I think most of those people have chains and masks in their closets. There is something out there for everybody. I can understand if 90% of women were going to those things but I can't understand a grown man sitting there with a couple of guys watching two grown men with panties on, sweating. That's just my opinion. It's not a good look," Hopkins said.
